While waiting for Golden 1 credit union to fix online importing of transactions into Quicken, I encountered a serious issue when I first exported then tried to manually import into Quicken using the QFX protocol. This is a concern if a member has more than just ONE Golden 1 credit card (as far as I know), and I include the response I received from a G1 member advocate who acknowledged the issue as valid (bold type added for emphasis):
Here is a communication I received on May 15, 2026 from Golden 1. The important part is if you have more than ONE credit card with Golden 1, DO NOT attempt to export credit card transactions for your Golden 1 credit cards to an external .QFX file because the identification "header" used in the QFX files cannot distinguish between multiple credit cards and it will 'blend' (read: "corrupt" or "merge") the transactions from multiple cards into just one single card in your Quicken file when you import that QFX file into Quicken! This hidden fault blew over 5 hours of my time and I determined what was happening, reported it via secured message to Golden 1, and then they confirmed my diagnosis and wrote:
"Hello [redacted], Thank you for your continued patience while we work through this issue. I completely understand how frustrating this experience has been, especially when it is impacting how your accounts display within Quicken. I want to reassure you that I did forward your concerns to our Digital/IT team for a detailed review, and the explanation shared comes directly from their findings. At this time, the issue is occurring because the file we generate for Quicken (QFX) is not correctly distinguishing between your Visa accounts. Specifically, both accounts are being exported with the same internal identifier, which causes Quicken to interpret them as a single account. As a result, transactions from your newer Visa account (ending in [redacted]) may incorrectly appear under your existing account (ending in [redacted]). This has been identified as part of the broader system migration, where some accounts are still tied to legacy or shared identifiers during the export process. Since Quicken relies heavily on those identifiers, it is unfortunately merging them together. Please know that this is not being ignored - our teams are actively working toward a resolution. Progress is being made, and there are updates underway to improve the Web Connect (QFX) process, which we are hopeful will resolve these account-mapping concerns. We truly appreciate your patience while this is being addressed. As soon as a resolution has been fully implemented, we will reach out to you directly with an update. If you have any additional questions or notice any new concerns in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to let me know - I’m here to help. Warm regards, [redacted] Member Advocate"
Note: If you have just ONE single Golden 1 credit card, you should be fine exporting transactions to a .QFX file for importation into Quicken. I agree the length of time this has gone on is hard to accept. On the other hand, they apparently are 'trying' to make things work 'as expected' and speaking in the voice of a person who truly suffered a lot of needless stress, I am sharing my own cautionary tale for those who may be affected (those members with more than one Golden 1 credit card). I have disabled the online connection for one of my Visa cards and am exporting transactions only for the remaining card. This issue once again points up the importance of regular and frequent Quicken file backups.
