I've just purchased an upgrade, form Version 7.4.2 to the latest version.
I don't understand the options open to me in the screenshot?
Help would be much appreciated.

It's a standard dialog you get to protect you from opening software that's not trustworthy. Since you (presumably) downloaded it from a the reliable source, quicken.com, go ahead and click the OPEN button.
RickO, I didn't give you the full story. The open dialog box is shown in my screenshot. When I click Open, I just get my old V7.4.2

Either delete it, or rename it to something like "Quicken old" or "Quicken 7.4.2" until you're satisfied that you don't need it anymore & then you can delete it.

Thank you for sharing what you are experiencing.
Have you tried updating Quicken directly within the application by going to Quicken > Check for Updates > Install Update, instead of reinstalling the application?
Please let me know if that works.
Try Laura's advise first. If that doesn't work, then yes, go to your Applications folder and drag Quicken.app to the trash. Restart the computer then try again to install from the DMG file.
