Security Price History won't update when I buy or sell shares of that security

Question

I have recently turned off the "Download Quotes" for 2 securities (mutual funds I guess) that are held in a CalSavers Roth 401k, because I am manually entering the purchases of them on CalSavers website which doesn't have a connection to Quicken Classic Premier for Mac version 8.5.2 for downloads.

PROBLEM: Quicken found those two securities by name and had automatically downloaded quotes from another source for several years, but the prices didn't match my CalSavers statement prices.

I have to manually enter my purchases using the prices on CalSavers website for an accurate price history. So I went into the security price history and deleted all the incorrect prices. It was showing my manually entered purchases along with the downloaded prices in that price history.

Now with "Download Quotes" disabled, the price history is ignoring my manually entered prices for the last several months (see screenshot).

So to have an updated accurate PRICE HISTORY for these 2 securities requires my entering them manually AGAIN directly into the Price History dialog box.

I guess this is a bug with the software. Can anyone provide some suggestions?

Thanks for your reply, yes I noticed that also. The little symbol on the left side.

Regarding those mutual funds, I tried to buy one of the same the same securities on Fidelity's website (because the value was so much higher than shown for CalSavers 401k and I thought that I was somehow being cheated) but it was disallowed. I am guessing because it is handled by fund managers and perhaps more goes into their price calculation than for an individual investor.

If I made up a security name (that can't be found on the internet) and used it instead perhaps the "Download Quotes" button could be left activated, which then probably allows my purchases to go into the Price History.

I think Quicken has a bug though.

Also, I did a little experiment and discovered if a price is in the price history because it occurred in a transaction, then that price does not show a manually entered symbol even if the transaction is a manually entered transaction. It appears the only way to get that symbol is to actually enter the price on the price history window itself. In the screenshot below I entered the 6/11 price via the price history window and the 6/12 price is from an Add Shares transaction:

This is probably the explanation for the lack of symbols in my 401k price histories.

Are those prices actually wrong, or is it just the lack of the manually entered symbol that's bothering you? Because most of the historical prices for my 401K funds are also missing that symbol even though all of those prices were manually entered by me and there were never any downloaded prices confusing the issue. There must be a bug somewhere causing it to either not display the symbols or to forget that prices were manually entered.
