Amex wants me to reauthorize. Quicken doesn't recognize it and times out.

This started about a week ago. When I download transactions from Amex Quicken says it needs to be reauthorized. I go through the process and every time it takes me back to quicken to a message that says "Failed. Timed out". I'm going through the process quickly so it's not like I went to lunch and it timed out. I've even deactivated the Amex account and I get the same thing when I try to reactivate Amex. Any suggestions?

After an internal review, I found an FDP-350 error associated with your account. The status shows PAUTH_INVALID_TOKEN, which typically indicates that the authorization token used to connect Quicken to your financial institution is no longer valid.

I suggest revoking Quicken's access through your financial institution's website and then reconnecting the account.

To do so:

Sign in to your financial institution's website.
Navigate to the section that manages connected apps, third-party access, or desktop application permissions.
Remove or revoke Quicken's existing authorization.
Return to Quicken and add or reactivate the account.
Complete any authorization prompts provided by the financial institution.
Once the account has been reconnected, perform an account update to confirm the connection is working properly.

American express is displaying a message that "No Authorized Third Parties Connected". Still having this issue.

Before following the troubleshooting steps, I suggest trying to connect the account using the American Express - Delegate Instance connection option.

To do so:

Go to Tools > Add Account.
Select American Express - Delegate as the financial institution. If prompted, select the connection method.

Enter your credentials and click Connect.
When the list of located accounts appears, choose LINK next to each account you want to reconnect.

Click Next, then Done on the final prompt.

Thanks Carlos. That did work. However now every time I download transactions from Amex I have to deal with the security code is texts to my phone. That was not the case before. Any ideas how to bypass this? I can't turn 2FA off on the Amex website.

I'm glad to hear you were able to get the account connected!

Regarding the multi-factor authentication (MFA) prompts, Quicken doesn't control how often your financial institution requires verification. Your bank determines its own authentication policies, including whether MFA is required with every update, only periodically, or when it detects unusual account activity.

In the case of American Express - Delegate, it appears that the financial institution currently requires a verification code each time the account is updated.
