Downloading Complete Names of Payee (Q Mac)

Whenever I download credit card transactions, Quicken sometimes gives me an abbreviated name of the payee. This can be misleading. E.g, I downloaded a transaction from a retail named United Liquor on my American Express card, but Quicken identified the Payee as ("UNITED") and classified the transaction as Travel. How can I tell Quicken to download the full name of the payee?

Thank you for sharing what you are experiencing. As outlined in our support article:

When you download transactions from your financial institution, Quicken can replace the downloaded payee name with a cleaner name. Quicken does this by checking your renaming rules first, then checking Quicken’s standardized merchant names, and finally using the original name from the financial institution.

Based on that, I'd recommend checking whether you have any renaming rules for the affected payees. If you do, you can edit or remove those rules to see if that resolves the issue.

You can access the Payee window from: Window menu → Payees & Rules.

The Payees & Rules window will open, where you can review, edit, or delete any existing renaming rules for the affected payees.
