Under one step update progress freezes while updating data. Has since the weekend
Hi @cheese, Thank you for reaching out to the Quicken Community!
While the exact cause of the performance slowdown can be difficult to identify, we do have several troubleshooting steps that may help. To better understand what might be causing the issue, I have a few questions:
I look forward to your reply!
Hi Carlos - I'm running Quicken Classic Premier 68.28 on Windows 11 Pro, Quicken One Step Updates have been working fine until today, I've just tried updating my accounts via One Step Update and noted Quicken just freezes, the only way to break the freeze is to close out Quicken via Window's Task Manager>End Task.
Having said that, I just applied the setting changes to Mobile & Web sync and Pending Transactions as suggested above. I'm not running a VPN, the Firewall is Windows Defender, and McAfee AntiVirus all were active while Quicken successfully ran the One Step Update just fine until today.
Since changing Mobile & Web sync and Pending transaction settings, Quicken now proceeds through One Step Update, (not freezing) and returns CC-501 errors for all my vendors/bank accounts. The only successful update was my investment account. Please see attached sample error messages.
Just to note, Microsoft Tuesday updates were successfully applied yesterday afternoon, Quicken ran just fine and successfully performed One Step Updates several times last night just fine. This Issue is just surfacing today.
Thanks in advance for looking into this. JT
I am having similar issues right after patching to R68.28 Build 27.168.28; one bank worked, another did not and none of the credit cards are working. Patches are supposed to fix problems, not introduce them.
Having same issue as well - stopped working this afternoon; worked fine this morning (One Step Update that is).
Thanks for adding your comments! Keeping my fingers crossed this is an issue that will get prompt attention.

Yeah something is broken - i've tried all of Carlos' tips …
Under one step update progress freezes while updating data on all accounts except for one (Wells Fargo). Just started this morning, July 15,2026, when I attempted to do a One Step Update. Tried resetting an account, but instead of resetting, it deactivated and now can't get a connection. Quicken says my login failed. Right now, Quicken is proving to be useless in tracking funds for deposit accounts and credit cards. If I have to do updates manually, what's the point of using Quicken? Please give your customers prompt attention to this matter.
One Step Update Progress lists 9 of my financial institutions. First Bancorp and UBS Financial Services have the green dot approval. But, all the rest say "waiting" and the screen is frozen and will not respond to anything. Geez.
I'm having the same issue except for my Vanguard accounts. One-step update freezes on "processing data". I tried doing an individual Fidelity account and got the following error:
I do not get an error. it just says "waiting" and never responds. I have to use Task Manager to restart the program.
I waited on the One Step Update Summary and I too finally got the CC-501 error code after about 5 minutes of a frozen update.
@Pat Marshall Did it work after you restarted?
Same here. Can't do a One Step Update for any of my accounts.
Hi everyone,
The slowness issue and the CC-501 error have been resolved on our end.
If you're still experiencing either issue, please let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you!
it is working now, but the investment quotes do not match the online accounts. Maybe that will resolve after the closing bell today.
Thank you for letting me know.
I'm glad to hear that part of the issue has been resolved. I'll keep an eye out for your update regarding the quotes at the closing bell.
I look forward to hearing from you.
I'm having the same problem. I have deactivated and reactivated a number of times. Quicken does not recognize half the accounts that I want reactivated, and then the accounts that are reactivated are corrupted. These are the Bank of America and Merrill Lynch accounts.
It's a REAL mess!!

Hi @plraymond,
Thank you for sharing the details of what you’re experiencing. I checked your account on our end and found that all of your Bank of America accounts are returning the ACCOUNT_NOT_FOUND error.
I can see that you’ve already deactivated and reactivated your accounts. However, if you haven’t deactivated all affected accounts at the same time, please try the following steps:
4. Select Add to Quicken for new accounts you didn't previously track in Quicken. 5. For accounts you don't want to link or add, select Don't add to Quicken.
Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps. I look forward to your response!

I am having the same issue. I deactivated all BOA accounts and clicked add BOA. The only account it found was the one checking account that was not found before. So then I had 1 account activated and 5 not activated instead of 5 activated and 1 not activated. I clicked on add account again and the remaining accounts were listed to add. However, the account information is is not updated even after selecting to update the account individually.
Not sure who has the issue Quicken or BOA but it is getting really bad. Would love for someone to advise as the above information did not work.
Hi @uscgal,
Thank you for reporting this issue. I’m sorry to hear that the previous troubleshooting steps didn’t resolve it.
I refreshed your accounts on our end, as they did not appear to be connected properly. After the refresh, all but two of your accounts are now showing an “OK” connection status.
Please try updating your accounts one more time and check whether the transactions download successfully or if you receive any error messages.
Please let me know how it goes.

First of all, I have never seen the screen that you showed me. The only screen I have is in the Tools heading, and I have the account list, which is where I have deactivated all the accounts a number of times. I initially tried to deactivate the account, and it wouldn't do it. So I tried resetting the account, and it deactivated, but when Quicken asked me to log in, it wouldn't accept my username and password, saying Quicken has a problem. So now I think all of my B of A accounts are deactivated, and now I can't get permission from the bank for anything.
So basically, I cannot reactivate anything.
Thank you for pointing that out. Those were Mac steps, and I’ve updated my post with the correct Windows steps.
I also checked your accounts, and two of your Bank of America accounts still appear to be connected. Please deactivate them using the steps provided above.
Since you mentioned that Quicken would not accept your credentials, please try the following before attempting to reconnect your accounts in Quicken:
Once you’ve completed these steps, please reactivate the accounts using the steps provided above.
I’m glad to hear that everything is working, @plraymond !
Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.
