I review my Taxable account organized by market cap. I want to focus my attention on the heaviest hitters which have a disproportionate share of the risk.
Within my IRA I organize by dividend payout, so that I can see my tax free income by default.
Within my two Personal Direct Index accounts, I organize the account by symbol by default. This way I can find and correct stocksplits, spinoffs, mergers, etc that will likely never import cleanly without a bit of help. With 400 positions per account, its the only way to navigate the pile.
Schwab preserves my default views by account. Quicken has one default view for all accounts.
I have grown accustomed to the schwab approach and suggest copying it.
