Quicken is increasingly more of a hassle than it is worth

This is what happened when I tried to update today. Now, I said tried to update, because updating accounts in Quicken has largely become hit or miss. Surely some financial whiz kid out there has to have a useful replacement for this product. This happens more often than not. For Quicken to charge an expensive subscription fee and to receive this level of service in return is ridiculous.

Based on your description, it sounds like you're encountering a CC-800 error. If you haven't done so already, I recommend following the steps outlined in our Support Article for resolving this error.

Before beginning any troubleshooting, I recommend creating a backup of your Quicken data file.

Once the backup has been created:

• Deactivate all accounts associated with the affected financial institution, including any hidden accounts.
• Then reactivate the accounts to resolve the CC-800 error.

To deactivate the accounts:

• Select Tools > Account List.
• If applicable, select the Show Hidden Accounts checkbox at the bottom of the Account List.
• Select Edit for each affected account.
• On the Online Services tab, click Deactivate.

• Repeat these steps for all accounts associated with the financial institution.
• When finished, close the Account List.

To reactivate the accounts:

• Select Tools > Add Account.
• Complete the process of adding the accounts using your financial institution's login credentials and answer any security questions if prompted.
• When Quicken displays the list of accounts found at the financial institution:
• Select Link to existing account for each account you want to reconnect, then choose the corresponding Quicken account.

• Select Add to Quicken only for any new accounts you want to track.
• Select Don't add to Quicken for any accounts you do not want to add or link.
