Restore Quicken data file stored on an external device

I store my Quicken Data on an external drive connected to my desktop computer. I manually back up my Quicken files regularly (2 to 4 times a week). The file size is around 470,000KB.

I have not needed to do a file restore yet. My question is: if I need to restore, will I have any problems restoring the files from the external device? I currently do not use Quicken's cloud for backup.

No. I run my manual backups to my Network Attached Storage (NAS). Just simply select "restore from your backup" in the restore dialog, then browse to the external device and location. Select "Restore Backup" and wait. Depending on the age of the backup, you may need to reauthorize your FI connections. You'll certainly need to run OSU to get any updates.

So there's no need to copy the file to your local drive first. I've done this countless times over the years. I can store a lot more backups on my NAS to save space on my local drive.
