Investment Register Cash Balance not synch with Holding Dialog Box

I'm on Quicken Windows 11 latest.

Got one Investment Account. The Register cash balance shows xxx.xx, but when switching to the Holding Dialog box, the cash balance shows yyy.yy. Tried to adjust the balance to agree with yyy.yy, but then the Holding cash balance became zzz.zz.

Has anyone seen this? How to get this Synched? Here's a screenshot showing this out-of-sync balance:

Thank you for reaching out. To help us better understand the issue, could you please provide the following information?

When did the issue begin?
Is only one account affected?
Have you ever unlinked and then re-linked the cash account? If so, did the discrepancy begin after doing so?
If you press Ctrl + Shift + E to open Account Details, then go to the General tab, is Show cash in a checking account still selected?
Are there any placeholder entries, including hidden placeholder transactions, that might be affecting the displayed cash balance?

To display hidden transactions:

Go to Edit > Preferences.
Select Investments.
Check the Show hidden transactions box.

Happen sometime this year. Can't recall what I did to cause this.

The Investment was linked to fidelity brokerage. Have since unlinked it to try to fix the problem.

After check the Show hidden Transaction as suggested, the register now show the pace holder entry…not sure it got there or what do with this. What happen if I delete that transaction?

If this is a legitimate new transaction, I recommend resolving it by following the instructions in our support article: https://www.quicken.com/support/resolving-placeholders-and-usd0-00-cost-basis-in-quicken-for-mac/#section-windows-3

However, if the transaction is already present in your register, you can delete the placeholder instead. Before making any changes, please be sure to back up your file.

I deleted the place holder entry…then the Holding now show a -1543.38 on the CA MUNI. Then I just need to add 1543.38 of CA MUNI…then that would bring that position to 0. But cash balance remain unchanged, out of synched

file is located on my local computer. There's no backup service being provided or subscribed to any where. I manage my own file.

Seems like the Holding dialog is getting the Cash value from somewhere other than the Register. I can adjust the transaction to have the register show 1.49. This is done by creating buys and sell transaction that would adjust and ofset the value to 1.49. But the dialog now changed to $314.92.

That's interesting. Thank you for providing those additional details.

You mentioned that the account was previously linked to Fidelity, but you later deactivated it while trying to resolve the issue. To help determine whether the discrepancy is caused by the existing account's data or something else, would you be willing to add the Fidelity account back into the same Quicken file as a new account for comparison?

Before proceeding, I recommend creating a backup of your Quicken data file.

Then:

Go to Tools > Add Account.
Search for and select Fidelity.
Follow the prompts to sign in and connect.
When Quicken displays the accounts it found, set the account we're troubleshooting to Add to Quicken (do not link it to the existing account). For any other accounts, choose Don't add to Quicken or Link to existing account, as appropriate.

This will create a separate test account and won't modify your current investment account.

Once it's been added, compare the cash balance shown in the Investment Register and the Holdings view for the newly added account. If the balances match in the new account but not in the original one, that would indicate the issue is likely specific to the original account's data rather than a general problem with Quicken.

Please let me know what you find.

reason why I unlinked to Fidelity because there's been problem connecting/synching. And that's a continued separate problem that I don't know how to resolve either. The UI launch a login in screen at Fidelity on the web browser. After entering valid credential, it would return with Not Found

Please try validating your data file, as this may help resolve any potential data corruption. Before proceeding, please save a backup of your file.

To validate your file:

Go to File
Select Validate and Repair File
Choose Validate File
Click OK

Once the validation is complete, please check whether the cash balance is still out of sync.

Also, could you please let me know which web browser you have set as your default?
