This started happen a little while ago and cannot get it figured out:
I have a Fidelity 401k account with four mutual funds: FID 500 Index with ticker FXAIX and CUSIP 315911750, FID MID CAP IDX, FSMDX, 316146265, FID SM CAP IDX, FSSNX, 316146182, and PUTN LG CAP VAL R6, PEQSX, 746745801. I have entries starting in 2023 for these funds and everything was fine up until a few months ago.
After doing a download from the account into Quicken Classic Deluxe, I get the box where it asks if I want to add the already existing security. When I search for the security, it is not found either by scrolling through the list, or using the search function provided (Hidden Security box is checked). So when I click No to add the "new" security to the list, it says that name is already taken and to pick a new name (?). Just to get through it, I put a period on the end of the name. So now I have a FID 500 Index and a FID 500 Index. (with the period), with all the shares listed under the non-period security. Both securities have the ticker symbol, but just the period one has the CUSIP. I tried manually going through all the entries and changing to the period security, deleting the original, non-period security, but that didn't work, I still have both after doing a update.
Today, when I did another download, it did the same thing, yet when I went to add the "new" security, both the non-period and the period security, they were taken. I wasn't going to add yet another security so I just hit cancel.
How do I correct this, please?
Is there a way to merge these securities?
