Quicken Still Has Issues Starting Up Sometimes

Now, maybe 1 out of 10 times, Quicken Deluxe will start up and display a screen that says, You are already up to date and the only option I have is to close the pop-up. Restart Quicken again, and all is well.

Thank you for sharing what you are experiencing. I'd appreciate it if you could share the following information to better address your case.

When did the issue start?
Where is your Quicken data file located? To check, open Quicken and go to File. At the bottom of the menu, the file with the check mark next to it is the one currently open. Please provide the full file path shown there.

Is your file being backed up or synced by any third-party services, such as Carbonite, OneDrive, or Backblaze?
Are you using a VPN, firewall, or antivirus software? If so, please let me know which one(s).
Do you have any pending Windows updates, or did you install a Windows update around the time the issue began?

No VPN, use standard Microsoft windows firewall and Microsoft Defender virus software for Windows 10

This issue started back in May and I posted a similar discussion back then.

No big problem, just happens every now and then. I would guess it happens while Quicken is checking my license etc. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this strange behavior.

No it is not checked, I don't do any online things with Quicken, well excepts software updates. I could get by on the old DOS version for I do nothing but check registers on accounts and saving goals on projects. I do require a password, but other box not checked. Wish I hadn't screwed up and updated to the version that required renewal! But they said it was okay to update, but then when renewal time came around, I just wouldn't get anymore updates (unless I paid), I thought that's okay. What they didn't say was all the screen they would take up telling me I needed to renew.

I'm guessing that this occurs due to a timing issue.
Quicken starts up and checks for software updates. It receives a response that there is an update available (for a limited number of users).
As a result, it starts the Update process which takes a couple of seconds. The first response it gets from the server is "no updates available, you're at the latest version" … because the limited number of downloads has been reached.

This has happened to me, too, on one or two occasions.
"OK," I shrug, "I'll get you tomorrow …"

Of course, it would be better if, instead of closing down, Quicken were to start as usual, without the update.
