Disappearing reconciled transactions

Below is a post from 2023 regarding Disappearing reconciled transactions. It was closed. The problem has not been corrected. I have spent hours trying to fix/find the problem, Validate data, use backups, all the suggestions. It STILL happens in ALL my accounts.

Is there any hope? I am so sick of fixing stuff in Quicken. I continue to look at other products because of the frustration of dealing with this program.

Anyone else have a solution or idea of what to do?

Over the last year I have had random reconciled transactions deleted. This last month I was reconciling 5 accounts and 4 of them had the wrong reconciled balances. I had to search for over 2 hours to find the missing transactions. They went back as far as April of 2021. This is beyond frustrating. I see other threads of this happening and it says its closed and there is no solution. Does any one know why this keeps happening and what can I do to stop if from happening?

Are you Syncing to Mobile/Web? Is the Sync option in Edit / Preferences / Mobile & Web turned on?
AND
do you actually use the Mobile app on your smartphone or the Quicken on the Web browser-based app?

The Sync process has been suspected of a number of weird things happening with Quicken. Messed up account balances and disappearing old transactions among them.
Could your problem be caused by Sync?

• If you answer "yes" to the 1st question and "no" to the 2nd question, turn Sync off completely. You don't need it. The Sync process should only be used in conjunction with the Quicken app for Smartphones or the Quicken on the Web browser app. It cannot be used as a replacement for backing up and restoring your Quicken data file.
• If you answer "yes" to both questions, try to Reset Sync so that the current cloud sync file is replaced with a fresh complete copy
Do note that a full Sync process may take many minutes to complete.

How to reset Sync to Cloud
• Log out of your mobile app, then do this on your desktop / laptop:
• Go to Edit / Preferences / Mobile and Web
• Click the "Reset your cloud data" link and follow the instructions until it is complete.
• Sync your desktop file to the cloud
• Now log back into your mobile app

How to turn off Sync to Cloud for the current data file
• Go to Edit / Preferences / Mobile and Web
• Change the Sync radio button and set it to OFF

Thank you for your reply.

Sync preference was set to "ON". However, I never say yes to the request for Quicken to sync, so not sure why it affected my data. I did have the Quicken App on my iphone, but never used it. I deleted the app. I have turned the Sync to "OFF". We shall see what happens now.

I only do backups to my computer, not the Cloud.

I have assumed the data duplication, posting to incorrect accounts, deletion of reconciled information all came from the Importing function of Web Connect.

@CLP51 what is your preference setting for using the downloaded posting date as the transaction date? If that setting is enabled and a recent transaction is incorrectly matched to an earlier reconciled transaction, it would basically erase the reconciled transaction.

It would be helpful to know what the transaction download method is for the problem account and what sort of transactions are disappearing.
