Hello,
Recently, every one of my imported transactions is adding "point of sale withdrawal" to the Payee name. The actual payee is either hidden or cut off. Is there a setting to only import the name of the payee?
No, you can't have a generic rule removing the "point of sale withdrawal" text for all payees.
As for who's doing it, right click on one of the affected transactions, select "Show Inspector", and compare the Quicken Name to the Statement Payee. If the Statement Payee has the "point of sale withdrawal" text then it's coming from the institution. If the Statement Payee doesn't have it but the Quicken Name does then it's coming from Quicken.
Thanks. Very helpful. It's definitely the institution.
If the payee name is part of the downloaded name, or at least enough of the name is there that you can determine exactly who it is, then you can set up a renaming rule to change the name & remove the "Point of sale withdrawal" text. For example, you could set up a rule changing "Point of sale withdrawal Costco" to just "Costco". But you'd have to do that for each payee - you can't have a generic rule that would cover all payees.
But if there's not enough of the name left to be able to identify who the payee is - for example if it just says "Point of sale withdrawal C" - then there's nothing you can do other than perhaps complain to the financial institution & ask them to stop mangling the payee name like that.
So I can't set up a rule that says "delete point of sale withdrawal"? If I can, where do I do that? So it's not Quicken but the institution that is doing that?
Nothing useful to add, other than to ask (for future reference) if this is a debit card transaction? I've never seen anything like this with a credit card.
it is a debit card
