Replaced Chase credit card started new register and many duplicate transactions.

I recently lost my Chase credit card and had it replaced. The number is different. When registering the new number through Quicken another register was started. Problem is that the new register contains several months of uncategorized identical transactions to the old register. Is there some way I can use the old register associated with my lost card and just change the card number associated with it to my new number and bring the transactions up to date in that register?

@Buck2u - using the old account is preferable to creating a new one. Yes, you can change the account number on the existing account by simply deactivating and reactivating online services.

First, be sure to make a backup of your data file. Then, deactivate online services for both the old existing account and the new account account you created. In the old account make sure to also blank out the Financial Instnitution Name and Account Number. Reactivate the old existing account only. When it comes to the list of accounts to connect, make sure to choose "Link to existing" and then choose the old existing account on Quicken. The new account you created can simply be deleted. Do this by going into Account Details for the new account and click on Delete Account at the bottom of the settings window.

Hi Sceptic. Thanks for the help. When I am taken to Chase to reactivate the old account do I choose the old account which only has charges up to when the card was changed or the new account that has the current charges and the redundant ones. The old account won't have the current charges?

@Buck2u you would need to connect to the old account. The transactions that will download should cover back at least 90 days, which then will fill in the missing transactions for your old credit card account. The new account you created should be eventually deleted. You might want to keep it around temporarily to verify all the transactions for the new account were downloaded correctly.

Sceptic, will the new transactions, since the old card, come into the numberless/nameless old account register if I choose the old account at Chase or do I need to choose the new account to get the latest transactions? Sorry if I'm not seeing it. Since I'll have a backup up I guess I can just give it a try.

@Buck2u here is the bottom line. You will use the new credit card account from Chase and link it to the old credit card account on Quicken. The new credit card account at Chase will include history from the old account.
