My bill reminders are being automatically entered into the bills register for wells Fargo only. This does not happen with My bank Of America accounts. I have the register preferences set correctly.
Please fix this as it is annoying.
What is each of these reminders actually set to: "Remind me [x] days …" or "Auto enter [x] days …"?
When do these reminders get entered? Immediately during or after a One Step Update transaction download which contains confirmation that one or more of these reminders has been executed?
Thanks for reply
I have my bill reminders set for 3o days so I can see the future bills but NOT in the register. This happens after the morning update downloading transactions.
Quicken please fix this issue for Wellsfargo.
I do not have automaticlly enter into the register. I have the bills page set for 30 days. Yet Q put the bills in the register. This is very frustrating. I have a Bank of America account and Q does not enter the future bills into the check register.
@jralyea first check Edit→Preferences→Downloaded transactions→After downloading transactions, and make sure both "Automatically add…" are not checked -
In your Wells Fargo account, check your settings on the Online Services tab in Account Details. In the Online Services tab, make sure Automatic entry is Off.
If it does not say "Off", click on it to change it to "Use general account preference".
Sceptic - Automatically add to register is not checked
Automatic entry in online services is off.
Like I have stated this is not a problem with our bank of America accounts. Er just recently switched from BOA to Wellsfargo.
Hi @jralyea,
Thank you for sharing the details of what you’re experiencing.
Are the affected bill reminders for online bills or manual bills? Also, did this issue start recently?
Have you tried removing and re-adding the affected reminders?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yes started when we switched banks from Bank of America TO wells FARGO.
I noticed over the first month that the Bill reminders were automatically entered into checking.
This issue is with manual bills as most of my biller do not support online bills.
I have checked all my parameters and none are set to auto entry. I also noticed that my Bank Of America credit cards do not show up in tools, manage bills and reminders.
I wanted to start over with a new data set and a new Quicken ID and have requested an email change to Quicken ID change on the ID form change.
Over the years, we have used 3 email addresses because of issues, and we want to go back to our original ID.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

@Quicken Laura I hope you don't mind if I jump in here.
@jralyea - I misunderstood your issue when I first responded, but with your last comment, I think I now understand what happened and what needs to be done. Quicken Laura's post points to a key action that needs to be taken
What you’re seeing usually happens when switching banks in Quicken Windows. Your manual bill reminders were originally linked to your Bank of America accounts. When those accounts were deactivated or removed, Quicken tried to move the reminders to your new Wells Fargo account.
When the link breaks, Quicken often:
Nothing is wrong with your settings — this is Quicken reacting to the account change.
The solution is simple:
If you ever used Bank of America Bill Pay inside Quicken, check Tools → Online Center and remove any leftover payees or instructions.
After that, everything should work normally again.
I have checked all my parameters and none are set to auto entry. I also noticed that my Bank Of America credit cards do not show up in
I think I need to get the Q ID changed and start from scratch.
@jralyea there are other troubleshooting steps to try such as making a copy of your data file though the "Copy File" process, a data file validate, and super validate. Have you tried any of these troubleshooting steps?
Getting a new Quicken ID and starting over is usually the "last resort", but I think it could be a solution to your issue. And since you have done it before, it is a known process to you.
@Quicken Laura I would defer to any other ideas you might recommend before @jralyea proceeds with the new Quicken ID.
I submitted the form online to Quicken to revert back to my original Quicken ID.
They told me it would take 24 hrs to complete.
Thanks for all the responses and help.
Maybe Quicken Laura could check on the status of the ID change.
We have been using Quicken for 25 years and over the years we have had to change the ID several times and we ran out of email address.
Thank you for trying those troubleshooting steps.
I checked your ticket, and it is still open. I also see that the new email address is already associated with a Quicken account, so the request submitted through the form may be rejected. Given the situation, I’d recommend contacting Quicken Support directly for further assistance.
When you contact them, you can explain that you’d like to change the email address on your account, but the new email is already associated with another Quicken account that does not have an active subscription.
Since you’ll already be speaking with Support, I’d also recommend asking them about the best next steps for your bill reminders. They can troubleshoot both issues with you in real time and escalate the case if necessary.
You can find the Quicken Support phone number here: Support Home | Quicken. Phone support is available Monday through Friday, from 5:00 AM PT to 5:00 PM PT.
Please feel free to let us know if you have additional questions.
Hi Laura,
I contacted Quicken support yesterday and they sent a link to the form. They said I could use the email address associated with another account and thats why I had to submit the for with my driver's license. they wont let you use a former email unless they know who they are talking to.
Ill wait another day and give them a call.
I switched several manual billers back to BOA and they do not auto enter into the register. I noticed that even though the bills are entered into the register they do not get paid until I enter from the bills page and when I enter them they do not duplicate. Very strange problem.
Thank you Laura.
That’s definitely interesting. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! You may receive an email with an update soon. Hopefully, this gets resolved so you won’t have to worry about the ID going forward.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already, I’d also recommend trying the steps suggested by @Sceptic.
Please let me know how the validation goes.
Problem resolved.
Quicken reverted me back to my original email ID.
I now have the reminders set for 30 days and no days in advance to enter reminders in the register.
The only issue I have now is starting over I see all previous categories that go years back. Does anyone know if you start a new data file how to start from scratch, so I don't see all those categories used over the years.
@jralyea you should only delete categories if they are unused. Your other options are to hide them, change their name, or merge them with another category.
If you try to delete a category that is being used, or has transactions attached to it, you will be asked what category you wish to use to recategorize. Otherwise, it will be assigned "uncategorized".
If you are not careful, deleting or merging categories can become a big mess.
I am starting from scratch and will build categories as I move along
.Some of these categories are years some as old as 1o years. WHY???
I don't think Quicken will ever be the same as it was. some of this software does the craziest thing out of no where.
If you created a completely new data file using File > New Quicken File, it should start with Quicken’s default category list. Your custom categories from the old data file should not carry over automatically.
If you are seeing your old categories in the new file, something may have been carried over or imported from the original file. Would you please confirm that you created a brand-new file and did not import anything from the old file?
If so, please let me know how you created the new file and what steps you took afterward.
Created a new file. What I will do is start over again as I have only created several banks.
