Investments:buy category missing on a number of buy type transactions?

I've been looking over investment transactions made in 2022 and in the view I'm using I'm displaying both the Description/Category and the Category columns. For some of the Buy type transactions I see "Investments:buy" in the category column but for others with the buy type the category column is blank — why is that? Is this something I need to fix? Note, I'm using the latest quicken classic for Mac.

Looking at this more, I realize that by displaying the Transfer field in the ledger screen for that investment account I see there are several transactions marked as corrupt. To fix this, I did a Transactions→Duplicate Transaction on the corrupt one then deleted the corrupt one. Once I deleted all the corrupt transactions, this ended up fixing the issue where the Quicken sidebar Total was $125K less than the Net Worth report.

BTW, I was not displaying the Transfer field in the account ledger view but I am now which enables me to search for corrupt! transactions.

Could you give a screenshot or at least an example of the kind of buy that lists nothing in the Category field? What security?

To be honest, I've never looked at the Category field before, and none of mine are blank. I filtered my register by Type to show only Buy or Sell transactions. All good.

I checked mine and they all say "Investments:Buy". Yours may be a function of the download from the brokerage for some cases. I don't think you need to worry about it unless you are generating reports that filter by that category. If you want to fix it, it's easy: Sort the register by Category then select all the blank category transactions (using shift-click) that are Buys. With the transactions selected, click menu File > Get Info. Enter the category and click OK. That will change them en-masse.

OK, I did the get info on a transaction that showed a category of Investments:buy and on one that didn't and the one that didn't had "CORRUPT!" in the Transfer to: field in the Get Info window. See attached screenshots…
