Speed up Search All Transactions

I am using QHAB on iMac with Tahoe 26.6.2 on Apple M4 with 32GB od Memory. The SSD is 1 TB with 765GB available.

When I search All Transactions that are visible for all of my accounts, it takes between 30 to 60 seconds to find a transaction. The QHAB file is large of course (2,6 GB) but almost all of the GB's are taken up by attachments which are held in a separate file folder on OSX.

This is a long time to search and slows down my workflow.

I tried to access some recommendations posted related to Windows but I got blocked: something about vanilla.

So I ask how to speed up the search. It seems I have reasonably fast computer.

A couple of things you can do: instead of searching All Transactions, search only in a group register that you know the transaction will be in. For example, search only in Banking to exclude Investing and Property groups. Or search only in Credit Cards.

Second, click the magnifying glass in the search box and limit the search to only one field, e.g., Payee or Memo.

Doing either or both of these together will speed up the search.
