I download stock transactions and it is a real pain point. Quicken paints a screen with the downloaded stock. If it matches, it auto selects the correct stock - Great. If it does not, it populates the stock name in a field giving me the option to change the name - OK. However, if I change the name, the next time I download that same stock, it won't match and I would have to manually match it AND I would need to remember that I changed this - else I waste a lot of time. I must press OK to continue. The process REPEATS for every stock.
If the stock matches, why do I need to check OK?????
If it doesn't, why would I change the default name and create a reconciliation nightmare for myself?
If it was only a couple of stocks, it's not a major issue, but I do options where I sometimes have 30-50 transactions a month. And with the option strategies I use, there are sometimes 4 or 5 options per trade.
Two suggestions:
- If Quicken finds a match, it is automatically accepted. No input by the user. This should be the default behavior.
- If there is no match, Quick provides the user with the option to accept ALL the default stock names as is as a one-time submit, NOT individually.
This will result in a real time savings.
