Starting over with new file and Quicken training

Question

Using Quicken Classic Deluxe Win with Express Web Connect . I have made a mess of this 1st Quicken file over the year I have tried to use it when I have not reviewed and corrected the errors (mostly Bank of America) properly, making things worse. It appears I can create a new file and start over. I will now use the online training provided. It looks like the training could start at

Home/ Quicken Windows Help/ Get Started and just work my way down the list. Does anyone have a suggestion to make this training process more efficient, straightforward e.g., a youtube that was especially handy?

Levetta, many thanks. In the training materials, will i be able to find that I can copy the categories I have in the current file into the new file? Can I copy some of the the bank and credit card accounts that I choose from the current file into the new file?

Hello @debrac ,

Starting a new Quicken file can be a good way to get a fresh start, especially if your current file has accumulated download or reconciliation issues.

Before doing so, I recommend keeping your existing file as-is so you can refer back to it for historical information if needed. You don't need to delete or overwrite it.

Quicken's current instructions for creating a new Windows data file are here:

1. Choose File menu > New Quicken File.

2. Select New Quicken File.

3. Click OK.

4. In the File name field, enter the name of the new file, then click Save.
