After I enter my credentials, Quicken just sits at this screen. Firefox does not open.
Also, if I click "Cancel" and confirm, this screen remains and cannot be dismissed. The only way out is to kill Quicken from Task Manager.
Hi @madbrain,
Thank you for reaching out. I recommend checking your Firefox pop-up and tracking settings, as these may be contributing to the issue. It would also be a good idea to validate your Quicken data file. Before making any changes, please make sure you have a recent backup of your file.
Disable "Enhanced Tracking Protection" Temporarily
Check the Firefox Pop-Up Blocker
Clear Firefox Cookies and Cache
Finally, validate the file:
Please let me know how it goes.
Laura,
Firefox does not even open - the process does not actually start.
I just changed my default browser to Chrome temporarily, and see the same problem : Chrome does not open either when trying to add my E-trade account.
I have already validated the Quicken file.
This is clearly a bug in Quicken that needs to be resolved.
I'm not able to submit a problem report through Quicken, as my Quicken data file is 267,173,888 bytes, and the form won't let me attach one over 200MB.
Thank you for your response, @madbrain.
Could you please try adding a different financial institution to see if you experience the same behavior? Please make sure it is an Express Web Connect+ institution, such as Schwab or Chase.
This will help us determine whether the issue is specific to the financial institution or related to the connection process itself.
Thanks for your response. I was able to unlink my Chase accounts, and relink them through Express web connect. When I clicked "Sign in", Firefox opened successfully. Before the successful attempt, I also verified that clicking "Cancel" properly dismissed the dialog.
Thank you for testing that. I confirmed that none of the E*TRADE instances open a sign-in page on the bank’s website.
When you select E*TRADE from the Add Account window, you can choose the connection method by clicking Advanced Options. Please try both Express Web Connect and Direct Connect, and let me know the results for each.
If the issue persists with both connection methods, please perform one additional test using a new data file. This will help us determine whether the issue is specific to your current file.
Note: Creating a test file will not affect your existing data file. However, you may want to create a backup before proceeding.
NEW FILE
Using Add account instead of going to Account details and setting up the online connection worked. Thank you !
I set it up with Direct connect instead, as it allows complete investing mode, whereas express web connect only allows simple investing.
For direct connect, there was no web workflow.
That’s great news! I’m glad to hear you successfully connected your account.
If you have any other questions or need help with anything else, please reach out. We’re happy to help!
