I'm in Europe trying to download transactions from Bank OZK & Fidelity. It won't work using the local internet provider nor using NordVPN. Why not?
I have Windows 11 Pro
@billjones9 Since you're in Europe, the first thing I'd suspect is your location rather than Quicken, Windows 11, or the VPN itself. Many financial institutions, including some banks and brokerages, restrict or block access from foreign IP addresses as a fraud-prevention measure. Even when using a VPN, the VPN endpoint may be recognized and blocked by the bank.
A few things to try:
Can you access both the Bank OZK and Fidelity websites normally from Europe, and are you receiving any error messages in Quicken during the download attempt?
I can only access Bank OZK website using NordVPN with a Little Rock, Arkansas VPN.
With Fidelity I do not need NordVPN to get into their website. I can get into their website using Firefox & the local internet provider in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
But in using Quicken, it will not download neither Bank Ozk nor Fidelity.
@billjones9 Quicken is a U.S./Canada product and is not officially supported for use outside those countries. Since you're in Croatia, I'd be more inclined to suspect geographic or security restrictions affecting the download services rather than a defect in Quicken itself. The ability to log into the financial institution's website does not necessarily mean Quicken's transaction download connections will be allowed.
You could certainly contact Quicken Support, but keep in mind that Quicken is designed and supported for use with U.S. and Canadian financial institutions. Since you're currently in Croatia, Support may be limited in what they can do if the issue is related to geographic restrictions, VPN usage, or security measures affecting connectivity. The fact that both Bank OZK and Fidelity website access behave differently from Quicken downloads suggests the problem may be outside Quicken's direct control.
