Bills & Income: In the Action tab it is taken minutes 3+ for a bill to be skipped.

Question

Windows 11 Pro 64-bit.  This has been getting progressively  worse over the last 2 years.  I timed it this morning: when I clicked on an action, e.g., a bill to be skipped, a blue wheel appears and goes round & round; this continued for 1min 50 sec. Then a message appeared saying (paraphrasing) to wait for Quicken to update the account. I waited 5 minutes, and the  blue wheel is still going around. The same happens when you ENTER  a bill too. The only way to get rid of the blue wheel is to press Ctrl+Alt+Del, as nothing else on Quicken is accessible. I do not have the time to wait for the Bills, income, and transfers to be entered as is.

If you haven't already done so, I suggest following the steps outlined in our support article on Performance Troubleshooting.

Verify your computer meets the system requirements

Make sure your computer meets the system requirements for your version of Quicken. While a standard hard drive can run Quicken, using a solid-state drive (SSD) may improve performance.

Check the location of your Quicken data file

Make sure your Quicken data file is stored on your computer's local drive. Avoid storing it in folders synced with cloud services such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive, as these services can interfere with Quicken's ability to manage your data.

Try these performance troubleshooting steps

* Close any programs you aren't currently using.
* Restart your computer, especially if it has been running for an extended period.
* Review the programs running at startup and disable any unnecessary ones.
* If you're using a traditional hard drive (HDD), run the Windows ScanDisk utility and, if appropriate, Disk Defragmenter. Do not defragment an SSD.
* Temporarily close backup programs that may be running in the background, such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or Carbonite.
* Make sure your Quicken data file isn't stored on a compressed drive, as this can cause performance issues.
* Check whether other programs are also running slowly, as this may indicate a system-wide performance issue.
* After each One Step Update, review the One Step Update Summary and resolve any errors listed.

Validate your Quicken data file

If the issue persists, I suggest validating your data file to check for potential data integrity issues. Before proceeding, create a backup of your Quicken data file.

* From the menu bar, select File > Validate and Repair File.
* In the Validate and Repair window, confirm that the correct file is selected.
* Check the Validate file option.
* Leave all other options unchecked, including Rebuild investing lots and Copy file.
* Click OK to begin the validation.

* Once the process is complete, review the DATA_LOG.TXT file that opens.

Look for messages such as:

* Damaged category list
* Invalid transaction detected
* Deleted damaged payee or account reference
* Rebuilt investment lots for a security
* Orphaned transaction removed
