Once a month I balance my finance statements with Quicken and this is the first time that I've entered a 'miscellaneous expense' (specifically 'foreign tax paid') along with a dividend transaction against a stock and hit 'enter' only to have the miscellaneous expense transaction show in the account ledger/register as 'withdrawal'. I checked the previous couple months' registers and they show as 'misc exp', so it just started this month.
I highlighted the ledger entry and right-clicked 'edit' but it shows as 'misc exp' so there's nothing for me to change and when I just click on 'enter' or 'cancel', it goes back in the ledger as 'withdrawal' in the category column. I've even tried re-clicking on transaction type 'misc exp' and re-selecting 'misc exp' then hit 'enter' and it still goes back in the ledger as 'withdrawal'. The ledger line shows withdrawal against the financial company holding my accounts whereas previous months it always showed the specific stock company that the expense was against.
Having this transaction correctly labeled sure helps out when compiling taxes since I usually can claim at least some of the foreign taxes I've paid. How do I get this to correctly show the transaction category???
