Hey all,
Some good news on that long-running problem with Vancity QFX files and their new online banking system. QFX file downloads and imports to Quicken now works with no OL-221-A fatal errors. The main fix, they have trimmed the overly long NAME and MEMO fields to 32 characters or less, so now compliant with the OFX standard, and Quicken no longer barfs a fatal error.
But the fix is kinda lame in other respects. They have not made any effort to properly populating the NAME field with the vendor or organization, and the MEMO field with the transaction type, e.g. "Point of sale". Instead all that is concatenated together in the NAME field then chopped to 32 characters and the MEMO field often just has "None". Fortunately, most of that can be rectified inside Quicken when you go through the transactions and accept each using the stored payee information.
So fatal bug fixed - no manual QFX file editing needed now - but still fiddly to resolve the transaction fields properly inside Quicken.
