Setting up downloading transactions from Schwab

I tried to set up downloading transactions from Schwab, and it just downloads positions, not transactions. Talked with Quicken support, and walked me through setting it up, but it still did not work. Support said it's probably because Schwab does not allow it. Talked with Schwab, and they also said I would have to download through a CSV file, then import to Quicken. I've used Quicken for years and always manually entered transactions, but thought I'd try One Step Download. Question: How do you download transactions from Schwab accounts?

To answer your question, it sounds like you followed the correct process to add these accounts. With Charles Schwab, some users have transaction downloads, while others don't. Quicken doesn't determine this, and we can't change it. This is how the financial institution is sending the information to Quicken.

Normally, we would recommend calling the financial institution for help, but based on what you said, you have already done that, and they suggested importing transactions via a CSV file. We have a Help Article with more information if you'd like to try it.

Before you begin

The .CSV file must follow a strict format. The file must include all required columns, in the correct order, even if some columns have no data. A header row is optional, but if used, it must match the expected column structure.

Required file format

The file must contain the first seven comma-separated columns in exactly this order to be processed. The last three comma-separated columns are optional, but if used, should appear in this order:

1. Date *
2. Payee *
3. FI Payee
4. Amount *
5. Debit/Credit
6. Category
7. Account *
8. Tag
9. Memo
10. Chknum

Columns marked with * must contain data in each row. The other columns may be blank, but each column position must be present in the file.
