Quicken Classic Premier Windows problems with Etrade Bank downloads

I saw another thread relating to someone having problems with the Etrade bank .QFX files were downloaded, and the error "Quicken is unable to complete your request [OL-221-A]. I followed a troubleshooting recommendation from Quicken's response to the thread to DEACTIVATE the service and then to SET UP NOW…, however, when I tried (multiple times), Quicken completely locks up and I have to go into Windows Task Manager and end the Quicken process. What started out as a problem with Etrade's .QFX file format is now a Quicken app locking up problem when I try to set up new online services through Quicken. Please advise on how to resolve this. I have the same problem. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with Etrade bank and they were not able to assist. I saw a Quicken response on the subject to DEACTIVATE and REACTIVATE the online services, but this resulted in Quicken Classic Premier totally locking up. Had to shut down Quicken via Windows Task Manager.

Thanks for letting us know about the issue you're experiencing with E*TRADE. To better understand what may be causing Quicken to freeze, I have a few questions:

If you try to add the accounts through Tools > Account List instead of selecting Set Up Now, does Quicken still freeze?
Does this happen only with E*TRADE, or do you experience the same behavior with other financial institutions?
Does your computer meet the minimum system requirements outlined in our support article?
Where is your Quicken data file stored?

To check the file location, open Quicken and go to File. Near the bottom of the menu, just above the Exit option, you'll see the currently open file marked with a checkmark. Please share the full file path shown there.

I also recommend avoiding folders synced with cloud services such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive, as syncing can interfere with Quicken's ability to access and manage your data file.
