How to correct an account linked to the wrong financial institution?

I am using Quicken Classic build 27.1.69.53. A bank account that has been configured in Quicken for years in now linked to the wrong financial institution. When I edit the account I cannot save the correct account number and routing number. There is no error, the info is just blank when I go to edit it again.  When I try to edit Online Services the only option is to Set Up Now which does not allow me to correct the financial institution.  There is no option to deactivate, only to enter the user name and password for the incorrect bank.  Any idea on how to correct this without losing all my history for this account?

@chrisheltzel If the Online Services tab only shows Set Up Now and does not show a Deactivate button, that typically indicates the account is not currently activated for transaction download services.

Before making any changes, I'd suggest creating a backup of your data file.

A couple of questions:

* Is the account currently downloading transactions, or has online access already been disconnected?
* When you say the account is linked to the wrong financial institution, where are you seeing the incorrect institution name? Is it on the General tab, the Online Services tab, or somewhere else?

If the account is no longer activated for downloads, use Tools→Add account to reactivate your account and carefully link it to the correct account on Quicken.  Doing this will preserve the transaction history for the account. The key is to choose Link to Existing Account during the setup process rather than adding a new account.

Thanks, I was able to add the account and link to existing.

For the last two days the account was not downloading transactions, but it was previously. The wrong financial institution was listed on the account's General and Online Services tab. It is corrected now.
