Quicken version R69.53, build 27.1.69.53: Windows 11
Description:
In investment accounts, cash transactions entered with the Deposit or Withdraw form (in the “Cash Transactions” section of the Enter Transaction menu) can’t be found with Find by Action, even though Quicken shows an Action value for them everywhere else.
Steps to reproduce:
Open an investment account (taxable or retirement) that has a Deposit transaction.
In the register, confirm the Action column shows Deposit.
Run an Investment Transactions report and confirm the same transaction shows Action = Cash.
Use Find (Ctrl+F) with Search: Action, Match if: Exact, value Deposit. Then repeat with Cash.
Expected: Both searches, or at least the one using the label shown in the register, find the transaction.
Actual: Both return NO results (Yes NOTHING!). Searching for investment actions such as XIn, ContribX, Bought or ShtSell works normally.
Impact: You can’t use Find to locate deposits or withdrawals in investment accounts. No good workaround when these are spread account multiple accounts (I have 30+).
Related usability issue: The Enter Transaction menu shows only descriptive names (“Cash Transferred into Account”) and never the codes shown in the register and used by Find (XIn in taxable accounts, ContribX in retirement accounts). So users have no way to know which value to search for. Showing the code next to each menu item, e.g. “Cash Transferred into Account (XIn / ContribX)”, would fix that.
Request: Make Find’s Action search match the label shown in the register (Deposit/Withdraw), or at least the value used in reports (Cash).
