I have given up trying to get much of Quicken's features to work, spending more time attempting to fix things than managing my finances. I currently just enter all transactions manually, basically to track actual versus budgeted expenses. The only other feature I use is Bill reminders, which I post manually out two years to get cash flow projections. I am currently using Classic Deluxe, which will expire in three weeks. Does the Starter Subscription, which is half the cost, support the current budget report format for any period of time?

@RichardSchreyer It sounds like you've already simplified your Quicken usage considerably and are primarily using it as a budgeting and cash-flow planning tool. If that's the case, Starter may be a reasonable option to investigate. Budgeting is included in Starter, so users can create and track budgets, but I'd encourage you to review Quicken's current feature comparison to make sure there aren't any Deluxe features you're relying on without realizing it.

Hopefully a current Starter subscriber can also comment on whether the budget reports provide everything you're looking for, since that's the feature that appears to be most important to your workflow.

In addition to what @Sceptic mentioned, if you are considering moving from Quicken Classic Deluxe to the Starter tier, here are a few key things to keep in mind regarding the budgeting features:

Restricted Budget Views: The Starter tier only supports a basic monthly graph budget. This means you will not have access to your multi-month or annual budget views.
Loss of Reporting: The historical and current budget-versus-actual reports are unavailable in the Starter subscription.
Feature Reductions: There are several other features not available in the Starter tier, including investment or liability tracking, advanced tax tools, and their associated reports.

Additionally, please note the differences regarding expiration: The Quicken Classic Starter version will become read-only with limited functionality. A list of features available after expiration is listed further down. By contrast, the Deluxe subscription still allows you to manually view and update your files after expiration (though it will display a recurring banner letting you know the subscription has lapsed).
