Community, I need some advice and hopefully some help. I've used Quicken for Mac since Nov. 2019. Now on Premier version 9.2.2 (Build 902.61860.100) on macOS 26.6.2. I have 75+ accounts across 15+ financial institutions. For several years, I've not been able to update my Fidelity 401Ks accurately. I'm retired, so I am no longer contributing, but I do actively manage and rebalance them quarterly. When I rebalance them and update Quicken the following day, there are missing transactions buy/sell and, normally cash is inaccurately reported (in Quicken) in the account that was not used. I updated yesterday and this morning I have one Fidelity 401K account that should have ~$65K in it and Quicken shows -$2300, the other Fidelity 401K is off by $600K. I also noticed this week a Schwab Brokerage account that reports $168K more than what is in the account. There are two other Schwab accounts that are off by smaller amounts, which I'm not worried about, but in finance, an incorrect value, no matter how large or small, is still wrong.
I created a new database and added the Fidelity 401K and Schwab Brokerage accounts as new and downloaded the transactions. It downloaded all the transactions back to 2024. I can live with that. I need at least 2025 & 2026 to run reports for taxes and financial planning in my retirement years. So I thought this was good and I could recreate these new maybe I'm out of the woods. So… I went back to my "active" database and disconnected those accounts and created them new. When I downloaded the transactions, I only got transactions back to August of 2026 on Schwab and October 2026 on Fidelity. So, I have virtually no history. This is not acceptable for what I need to do and what I have been doing (possibly inaccurately) for the last several years.I got on the phone with Quicken Support (Case# 12668197), and they told me the reason I was not getting my history downloaded back to 2024 was that my database was corrupted, and I need to start from scratch and rebuild it. I have thousands of transactions I have meticulously added memo/notes to and categorized, and I'm told I'd have to add that info by hand. Again, this is unacceptable and an unrealistic ask from Quicken considering I pay for support. Frustrated I thought I'd politely end the call and think about my options. Later today, I thought I'd call in again on Case #12668197. The person I spoke to this time told me I could export the database. Build a new database and import the accounts. This would bring my memos/notes and categories forward, but unfortunately, I would bring the corruption along with it, and my account balances that were incorrect before would still be incorrect. Boy, was she correct! In fact, she understated things. There were more, or at least different issues and inaccuracies. The Support Rep did tell me that if I were using Quick for Windows, I would have the option to Export and Import individual accounts within the database. Wow! That could solve my problems with a little work, but alas, that feature is NOT available in the Mac version… (what a tease!) So, again, frustrated, I thought I'd politely end this call (I don't want to shoot the messenger) and think about my options. So, what are my options?
- Rebuilding and losing a lot of time, Memos/Notes, Categories, Tags, etc
- Payable/Receivables. Just bank accounts. Can you even use QuickBooks for personal finances
- I asked AI Engine, and they suggested Moneydance, Banktivity, or Monarch Money??? But do I want to go there? Are they any better or less likely to have corruption or other errors?
Community, sorry for the long diatribe (and I didn’t even get into the issues I found this week with rolling a report forward from one year to the next; I discovered this week case#: 12666330.), but I'm looking for any help I can get to save my data. Does anyone have experience or inside knowledge of how I can correct a corrupt database? Export and Import individual accounts on the Mac version? Any ideas or even a backdoor to a higher level (Level 2 or 3) of support that I can talk to that might have more in-depth knowledge than the first line I talk to? If you read this whole thing, thank you; I'm impressed ;-) . If you have any ideas, please respond; I'd happily talk with you or start a thread on this. Thanks in advance,
Tom
