Investment Fund Share Balance Shows 0

I have a new issue now. The balance on an investment fund has been zeroed out and when I attempt to enter an administrative transaction I receive an message stating that "you are attempting to record a transaction on the same date as a placeholder transaction. Your share balance will not be affected. Are you sure?" I don't know what is meant by this. There are no placeholders visible at the bottom of the screen. Should I select "yes" or is there a way to remove what appears to be a "ghost" placeholder? Thanks
