how to transfer equities between accounts

I have two brokerage accounts. Brokerage One I have a long history with. Brokerage Two I is new. I want to transfer 1/2 of the equities of brokerage One into brokerage Two. All the while, I want to maintain the history of the of the equities in brokerage two.

In reality, I think you will sell shares of Brokerage one witch will give you money in your cash account (or in your bank account).
In a second operation, you will buy shares from Brokerage two with the money in your cash account (or your bank account).

unless you request that the shares be transferrred directly by Broker Oneover to Broker Two...You might have to fudge Quicken to retain the original history of the overall shares,
but it might be difficult with the shares history and where they reside....0
