Have 17 version, if I purchase online the new version with the subscription, can I wait to update until my present version expires or do I have to download immediately after purchasing?

    If you purchase from Quicken, your subscription starts at the time of purchase. If you purchase from a retailer, your subscription starts when you activate. If you see a good deal at a retailer, buy now and wait until 5/1/20 to activate.
