It seems when I bay an additional shares of the same stock quicken will not update nor
is there a place to add the new lot

    Can you give us some more information, so that we can understand what the problem might be?  Typically, you should be able to enter an additional "Buy" transaction (or download such a transaction from your brokerage).  What happens that prevents you from making the entry?
