how to enter a loan payment manually?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community regarding your issue, although I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with setting up your loan payment. The way it works on Mac should be fairly similar to the Windows version. If you're looking to set up a payment into the account with both principal and interest you're going to want to create a split transaction. The principal will go to the loan account. You can do this by in the category putting the name of the loan account. For the interest you'll just want to put it under a fitting category. Here is an article explaining how to do so.
