Pentagon Federal Credit Union CC-555

I have used both .OFX and .QFX file formats. Either can be download by selecting File > Import > and the option for 'Bank or Brokerage File'. I'm not sure of the difference between these formats but I didn't see any problems other than the previously mentioned problem with BALAMT noted by @derekpc earlier.

hi all,
On one side Penfed has been problematic since they merged a few years ago and got so large, but on another side we pay to Quicken for on-line auto download service, that is the subscription fee for such online access.
I assume this is on Quicken side to address this issue with Penfed one way or another.
Maybe allow to use Direct Connect without fee that Penfed refuses to pay to Intuit / Quicken, instead of Web Connect.
Or some other secure and free protocol.
As Quicken paying customer I just want it to work.

I was able to download my banking info via OFX which is good, however I hit a new snag. The download will not/can not merge with the current account I have listed for my bank. When I download it I get a duplicate account made in Quicken that has just the info for the dates I selected, furthermore when the prompt comes up for matching my account that I already have in Quicken I can not select it because it’s not an option! I have messed around with this for a few hours trying to figure out how to get the info I now have to download and merge into the existing account I have when PenFed allowed Quicken to download my banking information which worked until 10 days ago! I really do not want to: a) erase everything and start over or b) manually type it in which defeats the purpose of why I got Quicken in the first place. Is there a fix for this or am I just inept at using Quicken? I got Quicken to replace Mint and now I am wasting hours of my life trying to see where I am financially(big picture) and Pentagon Federal Credit Union my main bank that we have used for 25+ years is ruining my main objective in using Quicken. 🤦♀️

As of 2/13/25, I noticed a Pentagon FCU and a Pentagon Federal Credit Union bank option to connect my PenFed accounts to. Seeing this, I removed my two accounts and the links to the Pentagon FCU. When I went to try to setup the two PenFed accounts again, I received the CC-555 error with the following explanation: We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are unable to add your account at this time. Your financial institution is blocking Quicken from connecting to your accounts. Unfortunately, we are unable to resolve this issue until your financial institution removes the block from its servers. For me, the CC-555 error has been occurring for weeks now.

After I removed my Quicken to PenFed connection for two accounts yesterday (2/13/25), today (2/14/25) I was able to setup and re-connect to my PenFed accounts via Quicken for Windows…

I erased all my Penfed accounts and then redid them and they downloaded under Pentagon FCU. The only account that I can not get to download is my Penfed Credit Card. If I download it using using doing the transactions by dates it downloads but it’s listed as a credit instead of a debit. So I erased it and tried to download it using only debits….no joy. 🙄

I got download, but:
- I have a day delay vs what I see penfed online, quicken downloads the next day or in even 2 days only
- account balance was updated again, the 1st R transaction was changed behind my back again. I had to manually change back account balance to correct number

Response from my query to the Penfed Board. Note date of decision he states is Nov 2023. So, either a typo or a form letter.

Thank you for writing to me. I appreciate the opportunity to correspond with you. I am grateful for the trust you have placed in PenFed over your many years of membership.
In November 2023, PenFed made the decision to disallow aggregators from accessing PenFed Online through direct integration. The technical method by which aggregators were extracting account data (i.e., “screen-scraping”) did not align with our internal information security standards and was disabled to better protect our members and their data. I apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you.
I recognize that financial aggregators are an important tool for members to manage their finances, and we are committed to finding a solution that will balance the convenience of these tools with the necessary security infrastructure to protect our members and the credit union. We are actively testing a new capability for members to link their accounts through Quicken and expect this will available soon for member use.
PenFed built its strength on the loyalty and commitment of our country’s servicemembers. We realize you are at the very core of our membership. Your perspective on this matter is particularly valuable to us. Thank you for being an engaged PenFed member.
Sincerely,Edward B. Cody

I tried connecting to web connect on 3/4 after I did a manual download and the connect screen popped up. To my amazement it connected and did the downloads. Connected again next day 3/5 and id downloaded and worked fine.

I had to reauthorize today and all works the way it should with PenFed. Now all we need is Vanguard to start downloading again.

Yes, PenFed is working correctly after I changed the connection type as indicated by a pop-up message. See details here:
Also for me all my Vanguard accounts connected as well. Yea!
