Discover & Bank of America Credit Cards Not Updating

Since the beginning of June 2025, updates to Discover Card and Bank of America Visa credit cards are not downloading into Quicken using the One Step Update or by going into the individual registers and performing an update. This began happening after authorizing third-party access to Quicken with both credit card providers. I have also successfully completed an account reset through Quicken in the Online Services tab in Account Details for each account, but the download of transactions is still not updating. How does this get corrected? Thank you.

  • @BobinPA have you tried deactivating and reactivating the accounts?

    1. Make a backup of your data file.
    2. Click on Tools→Account List (Ctrl-A) and make note of the connection method for the accounts, in the "Transaction Download" column. You might need this information in the activation step.
    3. Deactivate the credit card accounts by going into Account Details and click "Deactivate" on the Online Services tab. If you have more accounts at the financial institution, deactivate all accounts at the financial institution.
    4. On the General tab, for each deactivated account, blank out Financial Institution Name and Account Number.
    5. Reactivate the accounts by clicking Tools→Add Account. Go though the activation and authorization process. You will be asked to enter your user name and password, or sign into your account. If you are asked about connection method or how you want to connect, refer to the information you found in step #2.
    6. When you get to the screen that lists your accounts at the financial institution, carefully LINK the accounts to your existing accounts on Quicken.
    7. After you link your accounts, there might be some transactions that automatically download, but after you are done with linking all your accounts, you can do an OSU and hopefully then your transactions will download.

Hi CaliQkn - Followed your steps precisely as you described them just now. Unfortunately, it did not work. I have new transactions on my card, but they didn't download. Any other ideas?

Hi again CaliQkn - I found a thread in Quicken Support at

UPDATED 6/19/25 Mac - CP Account Not Found / Windows CC-800 Errors — Quicken

You provided me with all the steps except after your step #4 above, the support thread says to close Quicken completely before moving onto your step #5. After I closed quicken and followed your steps 5-7 my transactions for my Discover Card downloaded again. Just leaving this comment in case anyone else finds our thread with the same issue I had. Thanks again CaliQkn.

  • @BobinPA thank you for your feedback. It does seem that closing and reopening Quicken makes the difference. A simple step, but a critical one.
