Share price in Quicken transaction differs from actual price

Hello

I just manually entered a dividend reinvestment of $51.20 for 0.257 shares, and quicken calculated the share price to be $199.22179. The actual transaction recorded by the firm shows a share price of $199.14.

It's not a gigantic difference, but I've seen subtle differences like that in other transactions. Why does this happen? Are there fees or commissions included in what was reported by the firm? The report on their website doesn't show or mention anything.

Thank you

From the fund family’s side, you were due cash of $51.20. The fund closed that day at 199.14. That means you were ‘owed’ 0.2571… shares. But they only track and distribute to a 0.001 precision, thus you actually received 0.257 shares.

Quicken (and others) see that you received 0.257 shares with a value of 51.20 to you and the fund family. That then computes to the per share valuation of 199.22.

The price per share in these transactions is not relevant. The missing 0.0001 share is not significant and likely balanced bi other dividends that rounded the other way.
