Will Quicken automatically initiate transfers at my bank? (Q Mac)

Hi, I just switched to using Quicken on the Mac (previously used Windows). On my windows Quicken, once I entered the transfer between accounts, then when I did the update it showed that it was sending the transfer to my bank. Now on the Mac, I entered the transfer into the register, but I don't see anywhere that it will send it to my bank. Is that still a thing or do I need to do it on. my bank's website or app?

Which bank runs your checking account?

And is the checking account activated using Direct Connect or (Express) Web Connect?

Once you supply the bank name and connection method, we can check that for you. But if the bank supports DC and interbank transfer in QWin, it is highly likely that it does in QMac.

You would need to ensure that the connection is set up as Direct Connect. Then you need to put the word "Transfer" in the Check# column.

My two banks are Wells Fargo and State Employees Credit Union (NC). I checked the account settings for both and it says connection type is Quicken Connect.

@Katie Cameron you need to use Direct Connect with Wells Fargo to use Bank Bill Pay and Transfers within Quicken.

I just wanted to confirm that for you, but I will defer to other Quicken Mac users to provide guidance on how to change your connection method to Direct Connect for Wells Fargo. (I am a Windows user)

Are you trying to transfer funds between the two banks? Unfortunately, it is not possible to have Quicken initiate INTER-bank transfers. Quicken can only do INTRA-bank transfers for Direct Connect accounts that support it.

For inter-bank transfer, it's possible you could set up a Quicken-initiated bill pay (again, the bank would have to be DC connected) to send a "payment" to yourself from one bank to the other. It's not something I've ever tried to do. You'd have to check with the receiving bank about what address and account info to use.

In checking those two banks, it appears that both support DC on QMac. To change your connection type, open the Account Settings for the account, click the Downloads tab and then the Change Connection button.
