Quotes not updating

Quicken on Windows Ver R63.21

Stock quotes stopped updating starting on Monday, 11 Aug 25. The last update mentioned at the bottom is 8 Aug.

All the financial institutions' information is getting downloaded. If I just check the quotes, it takes a long time, and only one of the stocks gets updated - ETJ.

I tried closing and reopening Quicken, restarting the computer, and refreshing the sign-in.

Is this a Quicken server issue?

Thanks

  • @Shredder13 just for reference, I am not experiencing the same issue. Quotes are updating just fine this morning. I have updated several times without issue.

  • @Shredder13 you don't mention what troubleshooting steps you have tried so far, but I think the first thing to try is a data file validate -

File → Validate and Repair File, and then select "Validate File". Review the validate log for any messages.

You an also try a super validate by holding Ctrl-Shift while clicking "Validate and Repair File".

The other thing to try is to sign in as a different user and then sign back in with your Quicken ID.

Edit → Preferences → Quicken ID & Cloud Accounts, and then click "Sign on as a different user".

I did the Validate and Repair file - Still no quotes.

Did the signing in as a different user and signing back in - Still no quotes.

Rebooted the machine again after doing the above…and I HAVE QUOTES!!!!!

    Thank you!

  • @Shredder13 - glad it's working again. Rebooting your computer is something easily forgotten if you don't do it regularly. Thank you for that reminder. Sometimes these processes need a reboot to take hold.

Spoke too soon. I tried updating again this morning, and it didn't work again!

I closed Quicken and reopened it, and it works again. This time didn't have to reboot.

Tried to update Quotes again a second time…and it doesn't work. Closed Quicken and reopened it, and this time it doesn't work again.

    Very frustrating.

@Shredder13 if rebooting doesn't solve the issue, the other thing you can try, if you haven't done so already, is the data file validate again, but also select "Correct investing price history - Repair" (don't select "Delete and Rebuild").

If that doesn't solve the issue, then try uninstalling and reinstalling Quicken. After you uninstall, make sure that this folder - C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken - is deleted.

If nothing seems to solve the issue then the only other thing I can think of to recommend is contacting Quicken support.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, and the quotes download is working as it should, so far.

It would have been nice for Quicken to mention that the version of Quicken is determined by what is in the account, and the only download is the Classic. I wasted my time looking for the Business and Personal download. UGH!

So, if you are reading this and want to download a version of Quicken other than the Classic, download the Classic setup and install. By logging into your account, the correct version of Quicken will be available to you.

    Thanks

  • @Shredder13 glad the quotes are updating again. Yes, there is only one install program. The version that gets installed is determined by your Quicken ID. Also, with your subscription, you get both the Windows and Mac versions.

Tried updating quotes and it doesn't work once again.

Very frustrating! I will contact Quicken support.

  • @Shredder13 I think at this point, that is a good idea. It seems like there is something in your Quicken data file, installation, or even your Windows set up that is interfering with the quote update process. They can examine your log files to get a better idea of what's going on.

This is a unique situation. Please circle back and share results.

HA! I just figured it out!

The quotes update doesn't work when I'm connected to the VPN.

  • @Shredder13 Eureka! It doesn't surprise me. I will tell you that using a VPN with Quicken is like rolling dice. You never know when an issue will pop up, and when they do, they are almost impossible to solve. If your VPN has split tunnel capabilities, or you can exclude Quicken somehow, that might help avoid issues down the road.

My VPN does have split tunnel capabilities, and I set up Quicken to exclude it from the VPN.

Tested it, and it works great.

    Thanks
