Manual placeholder for cost basis does not work. Download full feature needed to make complete. Manual process produces errors & costly mistakes. Requires using multiple screens in process.

Do it right. Make it a complete clean download handling any & all purchase dates.

    Hi, @gonefishing

Quicken is limited to the amount of historical data your financial institution is willing to provide, be it 90 days, 2 years, etc. It is rare if they provide more than a few years of historical info. I have not heard of any providing data for the life of the account.

That is why the Placedholders get added as a form of balance adjustments to get the # of total positions for each fund correct. They do not (nor can) adjust the cost basis as that is not data that is provided by the FI. It must be calculated from existing transactions within Quicken.

You are able to enter the cost into the placeholder for the missing transactions by editing the placeholder, though. Yes, this is manual and something you have to calculate on your own. But, that is the only way to do it as the banks simply don't provide that data via download. Quicken has absolutely no way of determining that.
