Fidelity's EWC+ mandatory breaks download spouse accounts with same employer (again).
This posting is resurrecting this posting. Many people over the years have raised this issue with Quicken and Fidelity. The mandatory EWC+ conversion vs DC broke our long time work around when using DC. The simple solution of adding XXXX to one account, syncing, then remove and then adding XXX to the other account and syncing is now broken with Fidelity's EWC+. I'm actually amazed that Fidelity and Quicken have never fixed this long running problem.
BLUF: B/c of the way EWC+ works, I can no longer EDIT the account #'s take the one account out of play, update, then repeat for the 2nd account. Why? B/c with EWC+ the account #'s are "greyed out" and not editable unless you disconnect the EWC+ link to one of the accounts!!!
I and many others in this situation have been using this "xxxx" workaround for many, many years since both my spouse and I work for the same employer.
Fidelity's EWC+ setup demands when I link in the Quicken accounts I authorize by logging into Fidelity NetBenefits with the account holder's userid. So, Quicken and Fidelity both know which userids are associated with which owner's account even if the "employer account numbers" are the same! (just seems crazy right?)
What this means unless the Quicken community finds another workaround, one spouse's accounts will have to be manually updated from here forward. I am not a happy camper. I suspect many other dual account 401k spouses will also be quite annoyed.
Please advise.
Has anyone found a EWC+ enabled workaround? I though of "keeping one of these accounts separate" but I do not think that's going to work b/c of the "shared account numbers"…
What a mess. This is a big enough PITA that I might just have to close 1 of the fidelity 401K accounts and move it Vanguard to keep the recordkeeping reasonable.

I'm planning on rolling my 401(k) to an IRA at Fidelity. If I continue to have problems with that, I may transfer it to Vanguard.
