My Specific PNC Bank Download Problems

(read all of this and don't assume all of these issues have already been reported—I have looked through a few other threads on here with PNC download issues but some are different than I have experienced)

Since sometime last month I have not been able to download transactions from my PNC Performance Select Checking account. So far it looks like it connects successfully, and I can add future payments, and can check the status of a transaction waiting to be paid by clicking the "status" link when the transaction is highlighted. However, no new transactions from the past have downloaded so I have manually cleared all transactions that show they have cleared on the PNC website. Also the online balance is not updated. So it seems like a one-way ("upload" only) situation right now at least for me.

One question I have is whether there is any other way to confirm that the dozen or so transactions I have queued up to be paid will actually be paid—this gives me a very uneasy feeling as I typically schedule payments a few weeks in advance. I can't see anything directly on the Quicken website and they have overhauled that site recently as well anyway.

A few years ago I gave up using my PNC Bank credit card as there would often be transactions missed in the download and PNC could never get it right (Web Connect, not Direct Connect). If this continues I may have to switch to another bank who can get their act together. I cannot believe that they can make changes and go live without successfully testing the interface with Quicken.

I have been using Quicken Windows for over 20 years so I'm very experienced in using the software.

I read your entire post. I too have been experiencing the same issue as you. The weekend of 10/24/25 PNC updated their online/mobile banking. Since then I have been unable to download cleared transactions using direct connect (my EWC+ PNC accounts work fine). I am also left wondering whether or not the payments I have been scheduling are going to get paid. Obviously, we won't really know until the recipient confirms payment. I also used to have issues with my PNC credit card transactions, but since switching all of my PNC accounts to EWC+ (except the 3 I use to pay bills), I haven't had these issues.

I have been following the support thread linked below which says the issue should be resolved. After several deactivate/reactivate failures, I called support. On my first attempt, the rep said to call back after 0930PST because that's when the elevated support team comes in. On my second attempt, the rep had me deactivate/reactivate, of course to no avail. After a long hold, the rep told me it must be PNC and that I should contact them 😡 Needless to say I am downloading manually for now.

To answer your question on "whether there is any other way to confirm that the dozen or so transactions I have queued up to be paid", I have found that the only way to do that is to call PNC customer service and they can see the transactions and verify that they are queued up.

I had the same problem with direct connect not working, but after the first notice of it being fixed (Nov 7?) I did the deactivate/activate and since then have been able to download transactions. I also called PNC and they verified that the payments I had sent in had been received correctly.

However, transaction downloads seem to be delayed. For example transactions that show on the web site as cleared yesterday are not yet downloading, at 9 AM Pacific Time. One of those is an internal PNC transfer, for which there is no possible reason for a delay. I had the same problem yesterday, but at 8 PM all the transactions from the day before did download. I don't know what time might be the magic time.

I like the ability to make billpay payments directly from Quicken, which most banks no longer support. Other than that, I think I spend 10x longer doing admin tasks at PNC compared to any other bank. I have given up on their credit card for that reason.

2 days ago I synced Quicken with my PNC checking account using direct connect and I received about 10 downloaded transactions but the online balance still did not match my balance logging into my PNC app/website. Yesterday I did another update and it downloaded a few more transactions and now my online balance is correct and I was able to reconcile my checking account. Another sync today and things seem to be back to normal now.
