Transaction Change Log

Occasionally, I might fat finger something and I end up losing/gaining money somewhere. Having an accessible transaction change log would be very helpful so you could easily go back and see what happened in a particular session. You could have options to set a date range for logging so the file would not get super huge. Like 30 Days, 2 Weeks, I Week.

    A key logging function for all transactions in all registers would tend to really bloat the software.

    Patient to Doctor: " Doc, it hurts when I do this."

    Doctor to Patient: "Well, don't do that."

    I also would appreciate some way to see a log of transaction edits.

    There could be ways to reduce the "bloat" as Ralph C suggests… for example, only log edits to Reconciled transactions, or transactions older than a certain date, or automatically remove edits from the log file that are older than x number of days, etc.

    This would potentially save me hours of searching for where I accidently messed something up.

    If the log function included a way to Undo one or more selected transactions, to repair or restore a prior state … that would be helpful, I think.

    I like this idea and as stated by others, there are several ways to prevent unwanted 'bloat'.

    Quicken user since 1995.
    Current Quicken for Windows subscription user. I usually upgrade to the latest version about 1 week after full release.

    One thing you can do that might help finding transactions….you can sort a register in Order Entered and it should put the latest transactions at the bottom of the list.  While in a register, click on "Account Actions", select "Sorting Options", select "by order entered". Don’t know if that works in the all transactions listing at the top of the Account bar.

    I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.
