Bug: Quicken not updating to latest version 65.17 when clicking check for update
It says I have the latest version 64.31. But when I went to install quicken classic canada edition from my subscription panel on my new computer it installed 65.17. So it means existing versions cannot upgrade to the latest version?

It's not a bug.
64.31 is the latest Canadian version.
65.17 is the latest USA version.
You've accidentally installed the USA version… you are not alone… this is a very common problem. I recommend calling Quicken phone support to get this sorted out.

I logged in to my Canadian quicken account and downloaded the canadian quicken classic from the link.
After installing it it said version 65.17. It was definitely the canadian version and it even said edition: canada.
So I am still waiting for an explanation for this bug.

The fact that it says Canadian is driven by your Quicken ID, not the application you downloaded. The application you have installed is the USA version. There is no Canadian version 65.17. Furthermore, Quicken never provides "an explanation for a bug" on this forum. Again, I recommend calling Quicken phone support to get assistance with getting the correct version installed. If you want some proof of what I am asserting, look here for the most current Canadian and USA versions:
Scroll down to where it says "Release Notes" for the USA and Canadian versions. Those are the most current versions and you'll see that it matches what I posted above.
Call it a bug if that suits your fancy, but you have the wrong version installed.

For the Canadian users in the crowd, if you follow Product Releases and Announcements: Windows — Quicken, there often isn't an announcement of new Canadian versions. The latest announcement for Canadian users is "Windows Canada R62.xx Release" in May 2025.
Often the first clue of a new Canadian release is when launching Quicken and having it tell you a new release, i.e. R64.xx, is available.

Could the Quicken team please make sure Canadian users are kept up-to-date with Canadian releases.
The page Canada Release Notes indicates the latest Canadian release is Version R61.21 (Mar, 2025)

Prior to this morning I was running Version 64.xx and this morning I happened to click on the 'Check for updates' button and low and behold there is a Canadian Version 65.20 (Dec, 2025) available.
Been a techie and bleeding edge type user, I have successfully updated and am now running Version 65.20. Thanks to the Quicken team there are some nice New and Improved features in this release that I cannot wait to try out.
