Default Download Information

Over the past few months, I've noticed that when I download transactions, many of these seem to default to prior entries, usually requiring me to edit the downloaded transactions. For example, if I previously purchased a computer battery on Amazon (payee = Amazon, category = computer, and memo = battery), all subsequent Amazon transactions will reflect these same details, albeit with new cost information. Why does this happen and is there an easy way to make this stop?

I have not experienced this but I wonder if the source of this anomaly is in the Memorized Payee List. Look into the MPL for Amazon entries and delete them since Amazon purchases will typically have so many different categories such that IMO perhaps it should not be in the MPL - your discretion. (If you decide to delete them, first make a back up of your data file and also take a screenshot in case you decide to add them again)

Next look into the Edit > Preferences > Data Entry and QuickFill. Is the "Automatically memorize new payees" selected? As an experiment deselect it and play around for a few days and observe any differences.

Please let us know if/how you resolved it to help others.
