Short sales with Covered buys
Using Quicken Premier R65.17. Quicken Windows is our system. We do a high volume of trades daily (+100) When I download next day updates the Short Sales and Covered Buys do not process correctly, the result is erroneous Capital Gains data. Merrill Edge does process the data correctly for monthly and end of year reports. I still use Quicken to look at long term dividends, long term Capital Gains is in the negative range on those stocks we short and buy back on a rapid basis. I find it is too time consuming to enter Shorts and Covered buys manually to have accurate data. The daily update should process the trades in the correct time order. I am looking for a solution.😎

a) I’d expect with that volume of trading and transactions, you’ll quickly run into program responsiveness issues. The programming especially in investment accounts is not optimized for that level of activity.
b) The only thing I would suggest to get the trading sequence right is to individually accept the transactions into Quicken thereby ensuring that each pairing is correct. But for 100+ transactions per day, I can see that also being cumbersome.
I don’t think Quicken is the right application for you.
