Account balances change if I use Mobile Sync

This has been a problem for me for years.
Anytime I use Mobile Sync with Quicken Classic Deluxe, my account balances will randomly change after syncing. Sometimes by just a dollar or two, sometimes by hundreds of dollars.
I then have two choices; look for the discrepancy, which is nearly impossible as I'd have to go through years of transactions, or restore from a backup. But then if I continue using Mobile Sync, at some point it will change again. Why??

Unfortunately enabling the Sync and using any of the mobile & web companions cause occasional issues and as you started your post, it's been like that forever perhaps. The experts disable the Sync functionality. One of the SuperUsers once wrote: "QMobile/QWeb either work for a user or they don't and when they don't, the data file gets messed up. It just isn't worth the problems to be able to look at your finance's over a cup of coffee at the cafe."

If Sync has messed up your account balances in one or more registers …
The first thing you should do is to locate the Opening Balance transaction at the top of the register. This transaction tends to get changed unexpectedly, causing your balance problems.
Figure out what the correct Opening Balance amount should be, e.g., based on looking at a restored-to-a-different file name backup file.
Edit the transaction, correct the amount and, for future reference, should this problem happen again … make a note of the correct amount in the Memo field of this transaction.

I have checked my Opening Balance, as I've seen here in the past.
I even made a note of it in the Memo field for future reference in case it ever changed.
Unfortunately my Opening Balance has never been the issue.
As was mentioned above, I guess that after all these years my only remaining option is to never use Mobile Sync again.
I'm sure the folks at Quicken are aware of this, and have chosen to do nothing. Oh well…
