Help with disappearing transactions

Recently transactions in 2 accounts disappeared. These were investment accounts and the transactions that disappeared were transfers to and from my checking account.

I found them in the checking account. I clicked on the gear and selected Go to matching Transfer. A pop up says "The transfer transaction is to an account that no longer exists in quicken". This is of course untrue. the account is very much still in quicken. I reviewed the account details to make sure that the accounts did not have any hidden or closed attributes and they do not.

What would cause this to happen?

    Did you have a recent crash while working in Quicken?

    Can you fix the Category field in these 2 transactions in the checking account to properly reflect the transfer-to account name, enclosed in [square brackets]. That should make the transfers reappear in your investment account.
    If the investment account has a linked Cash/Checking account, the transfer-to category field needs to specify the name of the linked Cash/Checking account instead of the investment account register.

    I did not have a crash. Something happened when it was syncing though. It said my version was older than the web version, and I told it to keep my version.

    When I try to add the account it does it, but does not update the other account. It still says the account does not exist. If I delete the category, save with no category, and then add it back, it does update, but the information is incorrect in the investment account because quicken does not know what to put there. They were purchases and sales that were added in the investment account, but the funds came from checking.

    I spent hours fixing them, but then my checking was messed up, and I could not sort that as the issue went back over 3 years. I have now restored to a saved version and am re-entering this months data. It is such a pain. I am thinking I may just have too much data for quicken to keep track of as my files go back to 2011.
